Meet the Umatter Team- Amy

Hey, everyone! My name is Amy Will and for those of you who do not know me, I am a Community Development Specialist with the Department of Residence Life here at UWO. Part of my position involves collaborating with UMatter to assist CAs with UMatter programming, as well as bringing fresh ideas from the UMatter representatives into the residence halls. Basically, I am the messenger between the two areas. Attending weekly UMatter meetings, coordinating events with both CAs and UMatter representatives, and collaborating with supervisors are integral components of my position, as well. On the whole, this experience has provided me with invaluable skills and resources that I will be able to carry on into future endeavors, both personally and professionally.

With all of the information I just threw at you, you may be thinking to yourself, “I wonder what her favorite experience with UMatter has been thus far.” Okay, so maybe you aren’t really thinking that, but I am here to tell you anyways!

A little over a month ago, I had the pleasure of working at the “Red Carpet Event”, which took place in Reeve and was aimed at providing first-year students with an alternative to going out and partying. At this event, UMatter was able to not only provide free mock-tails, but a totally awesome informational table as well! Both residents and CAs seemed to really enjoy a sweet and delicious mock-tail and were able to walk away with valuable UMatter knowledge, such as BAC information, Consent Matters knowledge, and more! Overall, we were able to educate students on the topic of UMatter and provide them with tools to make safe and responsible decisions. What more could you ask for?
